Lion Underwriting is looking for an Underwriter - Professional Lines to join our Sydney team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the insurance industry. Whether you're currently studying business, commerce, law or a related discipline, or have experience in administration, customer service, financial services or professional services, we'd love to hear from you.

This role is a Permanent Full-time opportunity but open to Part-time (3-4 days per week). No underwriting experience is required. Full training will be provided.

Working closely with brokers, clients and experienced underwriters, you'll learn the fundamentals of underwriting while supporting the management and growth of our Professional Lines portfolio.

A typical day will see you…

  • Supporting the underwriting of new business, renewals and policy endorsements
  • Responding to broker enquiries via phone and email
  • Building strong relationships with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders
  • Assisting with the management of Professional Lines portfolios
  • Following up outstanding renewals and supporting business retention
  • Preparing policy documentation and maintaining accurate records
  • Learning underwriting principles, risk assessment and insurance products
  • Supporting compliance and risk management processes
  • Assisting with projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working closely with experienced team members to develop your technical knowledge

Requirements

  • Currently studying business, commerce, law or a related discipline, or have experience in administration, customer service, financial services or professional services
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build strong relationships with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
