Description

Bridges Academy is dedicated to understanding and educating gifted and highly gifted students with learning differences (twice-exceptional or 2e students) and fostering a successful academic and social experience for our students and the broader community.

We do this through the work of two divisions: Bridges Academy and The Center for Twice-Exceptional Research and Professional Development (The 2e Center).

Bridges Academy, a college preparatory school for Grades 3-12, empowers its students to thrive academically and socially through small classes and differentiated instruction, creating an environment in which gifts are recognized and developed and learning differences and disabilities are accepted.

Many students come to Bridges defined by their challenges but graduate defined by their strengths and talents.

For the 2026–2027 school year, Bridges Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Music Teacher to help shape the next chapter of our school-wide music program.

This position includes teaching and mentoring students in Grades 3–12 through after-school bands, instrument workshops, ensembles, and performance opportunities while collaborating closely with school leadership to expand participation and engagement in the arts.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished musician and educator who is excited about building community through music, creating authentic performance experiences, and supporting gifted and neurodiverse learners in discovering and developing their talents.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead instruction for Bridges Academy's school-wide music program for students in Grades 3–12 through after-school bands, instrument workshops, ensembles, and performance opportunities.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Co-Curricular Programs and the Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair to reimagine and expand the music program, increasing student participation, engagement, and access to music education.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that caters to the diverse needs and abilities of students, including those with learning differences and disabilities.
  • Provide individualized instruction and mentorship to students, helping them to develop their musical talents and interests.
  • Collaborate with other music teachers and educators to create a cohesive and comprehensive music program that supports the academic and social goals of the school.
  • Plan and execute performances, concerts, and other music events that showcase student talent and creativity.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience teaching music in a school setting, preferably with students with learning differences and disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and pedagogy, as well as experience with curriculum development and implementation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Experience with music technology and software, such as recording software and digital instruments.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in music education.
