The Literacy Specialist plays a critical role in strengthening student achievement by providing targeted support to learners in writing and reading through individual and small group instruction in Primary-Upper Elementary divisions. Working closely with Division Directors and in collaboration with the Director of Student Support, this position offers the chance to make a direct and measurable impact on student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality literacy instruction to small groups and individuals.
- Use student data to guide instruction and move students toward proficiency.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records that are readily available to share with parents, classroom guides, and administrative teams as needed.
- Collaborate with guides, academic coaches, and administrators to identify and implement best practices.
- Utilize Montessori-based and other research-based interventions as indicated, aligned to specific student needs.
- Monitor and communicate student progress effectively with the instructional team.
- Assist with identifying students for enrichment placement based on data and observation.
- Provide consistent diagnostic and progress-monitoring assessments for reading and writing as needed.
- Coordinate and house data collection and lead data analysis in collaboration with Division Directors and Director of Student Support.
- Participate in meetings to support student growth decisions, as needed.
