Position Overview

The Jackson Campus of Mountain Academy seeks a collaborative and reflective educator to serve as Director of Teaching and Learning. This four-days-per-week (0.8 FTE) leadership role supports the development and implementation of a strong academic program across the school. This position will be open until filled.

The Director of Teaching and Learning works closely with faculty Mountain Academy Jackson Campus (MAJC) and school leadership to support curriculum development, strengthen instructional practices, and align assessment systems that demonstrate student growth and program effectiveness. This role also contributes to general school administration and may include providing direct instruction to students during a portion of the week.

The ideal candidate is a thoughtful instructional leader who enjoys working alongside teachers, strengthening systems that support learning, and contributing to a vibrant school community.

Primary Responsibilities

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Support teachers in curriculum planning and development aligned with school mission and academic standards
  • Help ensure vertical alignment and coherence across grade levels and subject areas
  • Collaborate with teachers to strengthen instructional practices and student engagement
  • Support the integration of place-based and experiential learning into the curriculum

Assessment and Program Alignment

Requirements

  • Thoughtful instructional leader with experience in curriculum development and instructional coaching
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with teachers, school leaders, and students
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to support student growth and program effectiveness
  • Experience with place-based and experiential learning a plus
