The Director of Lower School is responsible for upholding the School’s Mission, Philosophy, policies, and standards. The Director of Lower School serves as the division’s chief administrator and is an integral, contributing member of the senior leadership team and advises the Head of School on all matters pertaining to the Lower School division. As such, the Director of Lower School is responsible for managing all areas of the Division’s operations to ensure that the school is delivering an excellent program for its students.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in long-range institutional and divisional planning.
Screen, interview, and recommend potential candidates for hiring.
In partnership with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, work with faculty to evaluate, refine, and implement a coordinated, sequential and articulated curriculum.
Communicate effectively and regularly in writing and in person with all constituencies about the work, the goals, and progress of the division.
Support co-lead teaching model through explicit professional development, clear expectations, faculty relationship-building, and student learning outcomes.
Supervise and evaluate faculty performance and support professional growth through the school’s annual process of classroom observation, teacher goal setting, and faculty evaluation.
Clarify, maintain, and manage student behavior procedures in coordination with the administration, faculty, and school-wide policies.
Monitor student academic and individual growth by working closely with teachers and learning resources staff to ensure that student learning needs and benchmarks are being met.
Support faculty in communicating personal and academic progress of students.
Organize the yearly schedule of classes, teaching responsibilities, and duties.
Plan and lead regular faculty meetings.

Requirements
Master’s degree in Education or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in educational leadership.
Proven track record of success in leading a school division or similar setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
