Job Summary:

Ideal candidates will demonstrate knowledge of and experience in hands-on and integrated learning, as well as child development and literacy skills; be highly motivated, collaborative, enthusiastic about working with second graders, flexible; demonstrate a desire to learn; and show initiative.

Essential functions of the role

  • Build a joyful and nurturing classroom community that sparks intellectual curiosity and growth for all students, and demonstrates clear and affirming classroom management
  • Collaborate with grade level team to plan and teach an integrated, mission-aligned, early elementary program, including literacy, writing, math, science, social studies, and social emotional learning
  • Collaborate with Student Learning Services and Counseling & Wellness teams as well as outside support providers, as necessary, to promote student success and wellness
  • Administer and analyze assessments to differentiate for a range of learners
  • Meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and abilities

Requirements

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in hands-on and integrated learning
  • Experience in child development and literacy skills
  • Highly motivated, collaborative, and enthusiastic about working with second graders
  • Flexible and able to demonstrate a desire to learn
  • Show initiative and a commitment to the Friends School mission
