Upper School Spanish Substitute Teacher

Position Classification: Part-time, temporary, August 17 - December 18, 2026, faculty, salaried exempt

Hours: 7:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with additional hours as needed to fulfill other duties as assigned

Reports to: Head of Upper School, Upper School Dean of Faculty, and Upper School World Languages Department Chair

Position Summary:

St. Christopher's School, the largest all-boys school in Virginia and one of the largest and oldest boys' schools in the Mid-Atlantic region, seeks an Upper School Long-Term Spanish Substitute Teacher.

Serving approximately 1,000 boys in Grades JK-12 in Richmond, Virginia, St. Christopher's is an Episcopal school committed to cultivating a community that is diverse, inclusive and welcoming. Principal Responsibilities:

• Teaching the full academic course load of four classes, in this case with two preps: levels II and II Intensive.
• Attending department and faculty meetings and all-school professional development meetings
• Attending chapel regularly
• Supporting a Saints Explore cohort (experiential learning program that culminates in a one-week intensive in November)
• Handling other duties (e.g., study halls, chaperoning dances) as assigned
• Creating a positive classroom environment in which all boys feel known and valued
• Collaborating with colleagues to design meaningful learning experiences

• Master's degree in Spanish or related field
• Teaching experience in a secondary school setting
• Ability to teach levels II and II Intensive Spanish
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Flexibility and adaptability
