Description

Are you ready to engage with students in a dynamic and immersive way? To have an impact on a student’s daily life, helping them work towards change and growth? To work with a team of dedicated and passionate educators that keep the student at the forefront of their daily work?

The Oliverian School seeks a passionate educator who can provide learning support to a diverse range of students. We are an alternative, college-preparatory boarding high school for bright adolescents who are struggling with challenges such as anxiety, depression, school avoidance, and learning differences. We help students embrace their unique identities, purpose, and voice so that they can contribute to any situation to find their place in the world.

Our coaches are deeply invested in our community and must be comfortable managing professional boundaries while engaging students and parents in a variety of settings and roles. They work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, coordinating and facilitating student’s skill-building and growth.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Assess learning needs for all students and work directly with students to support the development of executive functioning and learning skills, and serve as a resource to the teachers/advisors to support the effectiveness of their work with students
  • Lead a CREW including academic advisors, a dorm parent, and other school staff to implement a structured program of student goal-setting and integrated student support
  • Serve as coordinator with special education departments for school district funded students: supporting the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of IEPs
  • Aid in SAT Administration including and not limited to setting students up for the appropriate accommodations
  • Participate in the Residential Student Life rotation, serving as respite dorm parent every fourth weekend and one evening per week

Requirements

  • Passionate educator with experience in learning support
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of students and manage professional boundaries
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Special education experience and knowledge of IEPs preferred
