Position Summary:

Lead Residential Instructor and Off-Campus Evening Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the dorm, one on one instruction, program implementation and oversight, and guidance related to independent living and interpersonal skills. They work collaboratively with the Director of Residential Life, Dean of Students, Director of Student Life, and Residential Faculty to facilitate the individual goals of the students.

 

Primary Duties of Lead Residential Instructor:

  • Supervise dormitory at all times (outside of other assigned duties)
  • Plan, implement, and co-lead weekly dorm activities that improve social-emotional skills, communication, teambuilding, community service, and recreational activities
  • Teach transferable life skills within the dorm setting such as room organization, laundry skills, hygiene, social awareness, appropriate technology use, relationships, communication
  • Plan, implement, and teach afternoon elective classes that help students learn a skill or hobby
  • Plan, implement, and teach club night classes that help students participate in project-based learning
  • Plan and implement weekend recreational activities for assigned weekends
  • Complete student check ins, including updating check in logs
  • Facilitate student goal setting, including updating goal setting logs
  • Participate in weekly supervisory meetings
  • Provide nightly updates to Residential Director
  • Support of the postgraduate program in the evenings, including direct staff/student management
  • Work with individual students to define and implement goals
  • Maintain written and oral communication with staff and parents, in support of residential life and independent living progress.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • Experience working with students with special needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
