Description

The Director of Recruitment will play a critical leadership role within the admission office, overseeing the development and management of Woodberry Forest School’s “new to Woodberry” pipeline from initial inquiry through enrollment.

This individual will lead the school’s efforts to build meaningful relationships with prospective families and key partners, while ensuring a thoughtful, personalized, and mission-aligned experience throughout the recruitment process.

Working closely with the Assistant Headmaster for Enrollment and in partnership with divisional colleagues, the Director of Recruitment will serve as the primary architect of outreach strategy, visit programming, and yield efforts, with particular attention to strengthening the school’s presence in key markets.

Responsibilities will include pipeline strategy and management, feeder school and consultant relationships, prospective family engagement, visit coordination, and yield strategy.

The Director will also provide leadership to members of the recruitment team and contribute to divisional planning and institutional initiatives that support enrollment.

In addition to core responsibilities, the Director of Recruitment will hold defined areas of leadership and contribute to broader institutional efforts in support of enrollment and community engagement.

Specific areas of focus include, but are not limited to:

  • Ownership and management of the new family pipeline from inquiry through enrollment, including helping set annual targets and longer-term goals in partnership with the Assistant Headmaster, Sr. Director of Enrollment, and Associate Director of Enrollment
  • Development and execution of feeder school and educational consultant strategy, building and sustaining relationships with key partners
  • Design and oversight of campus visits, overnight programs, and group events that support prospective family engagement and enrollment conversion
  • Leadership and management of the recruitment team, including coaching, development, and evaluation of team members
  • Contribution to divisional planning and institutional initiatives that support enrollment and community engagement

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Communications, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in recruitment and admissions, preferably in an independent school setting
  • Proven track record of success in pipeline management, outreach strategy, and yield efforts
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience coaching and developing team members
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with prospective families, key partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
