SUMMARY
The Extended Programs Counselor is primarily responsible for supporting the Extended Care program by supervising students, carrying out activities and guiding students throughout after school activities. Extended Programs Counselors are expected to encourage learning and good behavior in a safe school environment for students. Some essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assures students are properly supervised at all times.
Supervise enrichment activities.
Manage after school group games.
Coordinate snack preparation
Encourage students to participate in scheduled activities
Communicate well with students, parents, fellow counselors, and supervisor
Promote a fun attitude and positive atmosphere
Follow safety guidelines and assure student safety
Attend school and department meetings, as applicable
Maintain confidentiality of student, parent, and staff information
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1-2 years related experience in childcare
Demonstrates creativity, initiative, attention to detail and an ability to work well with a team and/or independently.
Demonstrates personal integrity, friendliness, patience, fairness, openness, non-defensiveness, sensitivity, flexibility, and enthusiasm
Ability to apply common sense in dealing with a variety of situations
