Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the middle school band program, including teaching music theory, history, and appreciation, and leading rehearsals and performances.
  • Teaches upper school music courses, including music theory, history, and appreciation, and leads rehearsals and performances.
  • Develops and implements curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to integrate music into the broader curriculum.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in music education.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in music education, with a strong background in middle school and upper school music programs.
  • Experience teaching music theory, history, and appreciation, as well as leading rehearsals and performances.
  • Ability to develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students.
  • Commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work and to fostering an inclusive learning community.
