Description

The Assistant Athletic Trainer works in close partnership with the other athletic trainers, the team physician, athletic department, parents, and other essential healthcare providers to provide evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Reporting directly to the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Trainer is present during practice sessions and contests to act as a first responder supporting student athletes.

The Kinkaid School is a co-educational, nonsectarian day school enrolling over 1,500 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The student body is divided into the Lower School (PreK - 4th Grade), the Middle School (5th grade - 8th grade) and the Upper School (9th grade - 12th grade). Located on a sixty-five-acre campus in the heart of Houston, Texas, the Kinkaid offers a thriving intellectual community in the midst of a vibrant, urban, and diverse culture.

Requirements

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and under the direction of the team physician(s) while implementing injury management, rehabilitation procedures, operation of therapeutic devices, application of braces and other devices, referrals to physicians, and maintenance of medical records.
  • Attend practice sessions and athletic contests as assigned.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical and paramedical personnel, coaches, and other staff.
  • Detect and resolve environmental risks to athletes.
  • Assist in overseeing athletic training room operations, including inventory management.
