The Middle School Religion teacher is a committed Sacred Heart educator who will relate well with 5th - 8th graders and is passionate about teaching middle school students. The ideal candidate will embrace both the school’s mission and the myriad of responsibilities involved with being an educator at an independent school.
Primary Responsibilities:
Implement the standards for Religion set forth by the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston within the Duchesne curricular framework of rigorous, project-based learning that focuses on critical thinking, reading, writing, and speaking.
Plan, organize, and lead activities designed to promote academic, social, and emotional development in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive, and accepting environment supportive of the individual development of each child and family.
Supervise young children and ensure a safe and loving environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests.
Act as a student advisor guiding a group of grade level students in fully realizing the Goals and Criteria of the Sacred Heart, and help develop the whole child within this model.
Attend staff meetings, serve on committees as required, seek and attend professional development opportunities.
Evaluate each student’s growth and performance.
Provide constructive feedback to parents.
Prepare and distribute report cards online.

Requirements
Master’s degree in Theology or related field.
Teaching experience in a middle school setting.
Knowledge of the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston Religion standards.
Ability to create a safe and loving environment for students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
