Tower Hill School seeks a qualified candidate to teach Middle School Mandarin from October 2026 through early January 2027.
The Tower Hill Language Department practices a communicative and student-centered approach to modern language instruction.
Candidates must possess native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin and be able to teach beginner to intermediate-level courses.
In addition to expertise in language teaching, the ideal candidate demonstrates a cultural awareness that encompasses the complex historical, political, and social realities of the non-English-speaking world.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Teach three sections of Mandarin in the Middle School
Serve as an advisor for up to 10 students
Participate in regular conferences with students, parents and colleagues
Utilize a variety of pedagogical approaches and instructional technologies to enhance students' language acquisition and cultural competence
Provide timely feedback that promotes student growth
Collaborate regularly with language department colleagues to evaluate pacing, assessments, and curriculum
Participate in department and faculty meetings
Assist with student supervision and chaperoning

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mandarin, Education or a related field (master's degree preferred)
Experience teaching Mandarin (three or more years of teaching experience preferred)
Sensitivity to the developmental stages and well-being of children
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal
Enthusiasm for professional growth, academic excellence and creative teaching
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
