Full-Time, 10 Month-Faculty Non-Exempt
Key School is seeking full-time Early Childhood Assistant Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will have previous experience in early childhood education, understand the developmental needs of young children, demonstrate warmth and concern, and employ creative instructional practices to engage learners.
The assistant teacher works with the lead teacher to supervise students indoors and outdoors, implement the daily classroom plans, and works with students individually and in small groups. The assistant teacher must understand and support the tenants of a play-based learning environment and communicate with the lead teacher to support student progress in all domains - social/emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Job Responsibilities:
- Understands the age-appropriate milestones as well as the range of development for young children.
- Actively engages with children in small groups during structured and unstructured classroom time.
- Respects children’s ideas, feelings, abilities, and differences.
- Promotes principles of inclusive teaching in both classroom programs and practices.
- Collaborates with lead teacher to implement daily classroom activities.
- Supervises indoor and outdoor play.
- Attends and participates in specials classes.
- Assumes responsibility for the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher.
- Completes classroom administrative tasks.
- Completes all pre-service paperwork required by MSDE Office of Child Care.
