Gifft Hill School in beautiful St. John, USVI is looking for an outstanding upper school humanities teacher who can live our mission and vision by providing a dynamic, rigorous academic program that supports students with a range of learning styles and readiness levels; within a climate that fosters a love of learning, mutual respect, and the importance of personal responsibility.
Successful candidates will have experience teaching English and/or humanities classes at the secondary level and be comfortable teaching students in grades 6-12. He/she will demonstrate experience and expertise in using differentiated instructional practices and positive, proactive classroom management strategies.
He/she will demonstrate the capacity to teach in an interdisciplinary manner, to collaborate effectively with specialists, and to maintain a high standard of record keeping and personalized communication with parents.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with AP English, AP Seminar, and/or who have previous experience with college and career counseling.
With the island as our classroom, teachers who seek to build a school community rich in rigorous academics and daily experiences of discovery, and who can model adaptability and teamwork for their students will be a wonderful match to this position.
