Full Time Jewish Studies Teacher - Jewish Thought:

Jewish Community High School of the Bay is seeking an educator who cares deeply about teaching in a pluralistic environment, thinks hard about how Jewish texts are relevant to students' lives, recognizes the role Jewish literacy plays in identity building, and enjoys creating an inspirational classroom environment.

The Jewish Community High School of the Bay needs an experienced Jewish Thought teacher to teach our core Jewish Thought 12th grade classes and one cross-listed elective with a humanities concentration. We seek teachers who are knowledgeable in Jewish Thought, able to make classical and contemporary ideas come alive for students, and skilled at guiding young people to think critically, wrestle with big questions, and apply Jewish wisdom to their own lives.

When you join our Jewish Studies department, you will:

• Teach up to four classes.
• Have time during the school day to prepare great lessons and give students the individual help they need.
• Be supported by a faculty supervisor, learning specialist, and school counselor to help you focus on your teaching.
• Work alongside colleagues who will both push you to be a better teacher and welcome your help in improving their teaching.
• Work with supportive administrators who encourage innovative teaching, expect professional growth, and embrace research-based pedagogy.
• Be directly involved in creating an inclusive and equitable environment toward differentiating your teaching, and honoring the diverse Jewish identities of our students.

• Experience teaching Jewish Thought or a related subject.
• Knowledge of Jewish texts and traditions.
