Part-Time Band Director (Grades 5-8)

The North Park Elementary School is seeking a dynamic and culturally literate school Band Director for a part-time faculty position.

The position involves directing two bands, a Beginning Band (5th & 6th Grades) and an Advanced Band (7th & 8th Grades), each meeting twice weekly before school from 7:35-8:20 a.m., from mid-September to early June.

The Band Director will collaborate with the full-time NPES Music Teacher, part-time Choral Director, and other colleagues to prepare students to perform in various assemblies and shows during the academic year.

This is a part-time non-benefits eligible faculty position in a vibrant and engaging independent school with a deep commitment to the arts, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The position includes about 225 hours of work per school year, including band instruction, prep time, collaboration, performances, and designated faculty meetings.

Instructional Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement a culturally-diverse band curriculum that empowers students to express themselves authentically and creatively.
• Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters students' musical growth and development.
• Collaborate with colleagues to prepare students for performances and events.

• Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
• Experience in teaching band to students in grades 5-8.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
• Knowledge of culturally diverse music and curriculum design.
