Description

Good Shepherd Episcopal School seeks a professional, positive, and collaborative individual to serve as a long-term substitute First Grade Teacher for approximately 12 weeks, beginning August 10, 2026, and continuing through November 20, 2026.

Essential Functions

  • Design, create, and facilitate experiences to engage students in their learning while collaborating with other faculty members, in accordance with the policies, curriculum, and philosophy of the school and treat each child with dignity and respect.
  • Uphold and support the mission of the School and support the Six Values of our Episcopal Identity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community members while maintaining a positive team attitude.
  • Plan, supervise, and implement the program for the class in accordance with the policies, curriculum, and philosophy of the school.
  • Provide not only for each child’s academic needs but help develop social and emotional maturity.
  • Review student assessments and implement individual strategies for learning.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university.
  • Teacher certification
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative, team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to differentiate curriculum for students with varying learning styles.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Generally works in standard office conditions and climate.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • May work at a desk and computer and stand for extended periods of time.
