Science Teacher - Grades 6-9

Fairfield Country Day School, a school for boys in Kindergarten through grade 9, seeks applicants for the position of science teacher for grades 6-9.

Candidates should have a passion for teaching, desire for collaboration and experience with middle school-aged children.

The successful candidate will possess excellent science skills, a high level of energy and flexibility and a growth-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching Grade 6 Earth Science & Grade 7 Life Science
• Implementing a science curriculum that integrates best practices in diversity, inclusivity, and differentiation.
• Creating a joyful, stimulating, and innovative environment for learning
• Assessing student progress and adjusting teaching plans accordingly; providing students with regular and timely feedback about their progress.
• Integrating suitable use of technology as appropriate.
• Collaborating with colleagues to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning curricular experiences.
• Actively pursuing professional development in the teaching of science and/or teaching in interdisciplinary project-based approaches.
• Maintaining strong communication with colleagues, families, and administration.
• Assisting the athletic program by coaching teams
• Serving as an Upper School (Grades 6–9) advisor
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree and course work in a related field; Master’s Degree preferred
• Minimum 2-5 years of teaching experience
• Creative, energetic, and positive approach to teaching
• Experience with creating an inclusive learning environment
