Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 7:50 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Wednesday, 7:50 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Job Summary:

The 3rd–8th Grade School Counselor supports student well-being and fosters a strong sense of belonging for elementary and middle school students at St. Thomas School (STS). This role designs and implements programming that supports students’ social-emotional development and skills for learning in response to student needs. Counselors at STS work closely with faculty, division directors, and the entire Center for Responsive Learning (CRL) team to support the whole-child development of students.

General Responsibilities:

  • Plans and delivers social-emotional programming for students in third through eighth grade through a variety of approaches, including teaching select advisory and classroom lessons.
  • Provides short-term counseling services to students individually and in small groups to support social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.
  • Collaborates with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement strategies to support students’ academic and social success.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with students, parents, and faculty to ensure student well-being and academic success.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in school counseling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Washington State School Counselor Certification.
  • Experience working with students in grades 3-8.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
