The Lower School Art TA works with grades K-5, collaborating closely with the Art Teacher and fifth-grade Teachers. This role is responsible for supporting teaching and learning in the Art program, assisting students' academic, social, and emotional needs, and maintaining a positive and organized teaching and learning environment. TAs are key members of our Staffulty Team, participating in school community life and modeling the school's mission and core values. TAs also work closely with other Staffulty members and other TAs to support and supervise students as they transition between classes and activities, during recess and lunch periods, and at other academic and non-academic times.

The Art Teaching Assistant will perform the following duties, embracing and modeling Sinai Akiba’s mission statement and Core Values:

  • Assist the Art Program by preparing and organizing art materials and supplies, including setup and cleanup for projects
  • Support teaching and learning in the Art program, assisting students' academic, social, and emotional needs
  • Maintain a positive and organized teaching and learning environment
  • Participate in school community life and model the school's mission and core values
  • Work closely with other Staffulty members and other TAs to support and supervise students

Requirements

  • Ability to work with students in grades K-5
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive and organized teaching and learning environment
  • Knowledge of art education principles and practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members
