Garrison Forest School is seeking an experienced individual for a full-time position as an Assistant Director of Facilities. The Assistant Director of Facilities is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department and ensuring the grounds of the school campus are maintained in a clean and attractive manner at all times.
The Assistant will work closely with housekeeping personnel to maintain high standards and will also be responsible for overseeing housekeeping staff when the housekeeping supervisor is unavailable. This position reports to the Director of Facilities and will start in May 2026.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
On call for emergency situations, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Evaluate and prioritize work requests and ensure work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
Responsible for the scheduling, training, and operations of the GFS student bus service.
Coordinate set-ups and details of special events (i.e. Grandparents Day) with the Events Coordinator.
Supervise the day-to-day operation of maintenance personnel, encouraging them to take pride in their work.
Conduct weekly walk-thru inspections of all school and administrative buildings, noting deficiencies and ensuring corrections are made as soon as possible.
Speak with the Heads of each division and key personnel on a regular basis to maintain a proactive approach to repairs.
Prioritize and schedule snow removal activity on campus.
Maintain inventory control of maintenance supplies, equipment, and vehicles.
Responsible for maintaining a proactive maintenance approach.

Experience in facilities management or a related field.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
