Abraham Joshua Heschel School seeks a full-time lower school (Grades 1-5) math and general studies learning specialist to begin in the fall of 2026.
The school is an independent Jewish school, N-12, unaffiliated with any single movement or synagogue. Math Specialist Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to plan instruction, support differentiation, and strengthen math teaching across grades.
- Provide targeted math support for students who benefit from additional structure, practice, and reinforcement.
- Design and teach enrichment opportunities for students who are ready for deeper mathematical exploration and challenge.
- Lead and support small-group instruction, including math support groups and an enriched math team.
- Work with other learning specialists to support students with varied learning profiles.
General Studies Learning Specialist Responsibilities:
- Teach small reading groups with a focus on language, comprehension, and writing in 3rd and 4th grade.
- Provide push-in support/team teaching during ELA in grades 2-5; supporting teachers in the implementation of the lower school writing and social studies program.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other learning specialists to provide guidance for supporting a range of learners in the classroom.
