Brings to the Montessori School of Maui Board of Directors such matters and data as are appropriate to keep the board fully informed to meet its responsibilities.
Recommends board policy development as well as strategies for institutional betterment.
Maintains contact with the board president to ensure that there are "no surprises." It is expected that the president will also keep the Head fully apprised of board concerns and data.
Serve as chief communicator between the board and staff.
Organization
Creates and nurtures an appropriate, strong management team of staff and board members.
Promotes an internal organization that permits effective communication up and down.
Works to produce smooth day-to-day internal operations.
The Head is expected to share and delegate to his/her immediate subordinates such that they will prepare to collectively lead the school should the Head suddenly become incapacitated.
Planning and Analysis
Remains abreast of trends and research in education; particularly those effecting Montessori schools and private-independent school operation and management.
Encourages the board to undertake periodic, systematic, long-range planning.
Develops tactical plans with the help of key members of the management team.
Initiates studies of pertinent data regarding academic performance to facilitate and inspire such plans.
Encourages perspective via testing, comparisons with similar institutions, and external analyses and critiques.
Participates in committees of volunteers and staff to address topics critical to school development.

Experience in education administration.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with boards and staff.
Knowledge of Montessori education principles.
Ability to remain current with trends and research in education.
