The Harley School, a Nursery through Grade 12 independent school in Rochester, New York, with approximately 450 students, seeks a full-time Middle School Math teacher for 2026-2027 to support students in Grades 5-6.

The Harley School seeks a math teacher who brings strong content knowledge, a deep love of teaching mathematics, and a commitment to joyful, student-centered learning.

The ideal candidate builds enthusiasm for number sense and helps students explore mathematical concepts through inquiry, discussion, and meaningful problem-solving.

This teacher fosters confidence, curiosity, and a growth mindset, supporting students as they develop both skill and wonder in mathematics.

In addition to teaching, this role includes advisory work that supports students’ social, emotional, and academic growth.

The teacher collaborates closely with colleagues, advisors, and student support teams to care for student wellbeing and build strong, trusting relationships beyond the classroom.

Through partnership and communication, the teacher helps create a supportive and responsive middle school community.

Requirements

  • Contributing positively to a student-centered culture focused on learning and growth
  • Teaching multiple sections of Math in Grades 5 and 6 in a developmentally appropriate manner
  • Serving as an advisor in the Middle School Advisory program
  • Working and communicating effectively with parents/guardians in formal and informal conferences, written reports/emails and newsletters
  • Creating an inclusive classroom environment through regular class meetings, supportive interactions with students, and clear expectations for community behavior
