Description

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to serve as our next Dean of Students, in a 10-month, full-time exempt position. The Dean of Students works to promote the general well-being, social and academic progress of the students. The Dean of Students is highly visible and accessible to students and faculty and helps set the tone and culture for the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Student Support & Advocacy

  • Serve as a visible, accessible point of contact for student and parent concerns
  • Through a restorative practice lens, oversee student adherence to school expectations and guide students, teachers, staff, and families through the restorative process, particularly for middle and high school students
  • Participate as a member of the Discipline Committee
  • Maintain accurate disciplinary records in line with policy and best practice
  • Serve as a resource to faculty on student behavioral and developmental issues
  • Oversee the advisory program

Culture, Community, & Student Life

  • Organize experiential learning opportunities including field trips/experiences, speakers and service-learning opportunities
  • Identify opportunities and coordinate with outside providers to offer enrichment opportunities during the school year
  • Support special events and student activities, such as WILDCATS Week and internships
  • Promote a mission-centered student culture throughout the school
  • Foster school spirit and a strong sense of community

Administrative & Team Leadership

  • Lead weekly division meetings and follow up on action items
  • Participate in meetings and committees. E.g., Guidance Team meetings, cross-campus administrative meetings, family meetings and accreditation committee meetings
  • Coordinate completion of all external reports and surveys

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in student affairs or a related field
  • Proven track record of promoting student well-being, social and academic progress
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff
