Wild Oak Independent School is a school community preschool through 5th grade that preserves the sanctity of childhood through the joy of learning. The elementary program is intentionally designed to engage small, mixed-age classes, in a positive relationship with learning that supports their creativity, growth, and development on 46 acres housing 3 different ecosystems in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Wild Oak’s educational model is a collaborative approach where collaborative partnerships within our community are vital. We have a multidisciplinary curriculum that is inspired by the real world. Teachers have the unique opportunity to offer students bridges to connect with themselves, one another, and the world, to actively foster trust and belonging within the classroom all guided by Wild Oak’s mission, vision, and tenets.
Core Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and provide developmentally appropriate multidisciplinary educational experiences that cultivate curiosity, deeper inquiry, and creativity
- Assess and evaluate student progress utilizing research-based practices
- Collaborate with and learn alongside director(s) and teaching staff on best practices in the classroom and within the WOIS community
- Document student progress through portfolio collections; keep detailed records and narratives of student work, interactions, and indicators
- Encourage care and comfort in the natural world through use of the 46 acre campus
- Nurture children to be their authentic selves
- Develop relationships through secure connections with students, in groups and one-on-one, regular communication and in collaboration with parents
- Perform other related responsibilities related to support WOIS growth and mission as required and assigned
Qualifications
- Required: BA or BS degree in education or related field with a minimum of 2 years of direct teaching experience
