The Mount Vernon School seeks an innovative and collaborative Upper School World Language teacher (Spanish). Candidates should be passionate about world languages and cultures in order to promote the mindsets and dispositions of an inclusive community focused on global citizenship. Versatility, collaboration, and openness to innovative instructional practices are essential. Availability to sponsor athletic, artistic, or academic teams/clubs is preferred.
Responsibilities
Provide meaningful instruction in Grades 9-12 Spanish using a variety of research-based and innovative teaching methods.
Create well-planned nine-week units with a focus on problem-solving, and application.
Create differentiated lessons to match the needs of each student in the classroom.
Connect real-world learning with world language, both in instruction and practice.
Timely maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of each student's performance and progress, and communication with students/families pertaining to progress.
Care and nurture for the social and emotional needs of each student.
Maintenance of an organized, inviting, and student-centered learning environment.
Participation in duties (e.g. lunch, enrichment and carpool) and others as assigned.
Possess strong character with an absolute drive for excellence, a team-oriented spirit, and a commitment to meeting the learning and social-emotional needs of students.
