Professional - Payroll Specialist
Location: Remote
Duration: 3+ Months (Possible Extension)
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge expertise of regulations around employee payroll.
- Monitor and understand US federal, state, and local tax laws to ensure compliance.
- Perform regular audits to identify and resolve compliance issues, avoid delays in filings to monitor penalties/ notices.
- Work in partnership with the Payroll Team to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll tax liabilities.
- Reconcile federal state withholding taxes and unemployment taxes monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Partnering with internal stakeholders and UKG to apply for identification numbers, such as FEIN, and SUI, when entering new jurisdictions.
- Evaluate and improve payroll tax processes with higher efficiency and accuracy. Also, Identify opportunities for automation and lead implementation efforts from payroll taxes.
- Coordinate year-end efforts to ensure accurate W-2s and other annual tax filings
- Ensure proper setup and maintenance of local withholding codes for employer and employees in the UKG payroll system
Required:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum (3+) years of payroll tax multi-state and federal compliance
- 2+ years of UKG Pro experience
- Intermediate Excel skills (SUMIFs, Pivot Tables, Index/Match, VLOOKUP...)
- Experience as a results-oriented professional with a keen sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical mindset with good judgment
- Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, meet all deadlines, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Certification in CPP/FPC
