Description

The Hun School of Princeton seeks a dynamic and creative Theater Manager to develop and lead our technical theatre program and manage the Breen Performing Arts Center beginning in August 2026. The successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of courses in the Performing Arts Department.

Arts education is essential for every student. The mission of the Performing Arts Department at The Hun School is to promote creative expression, communication skills, problem-solving, and inventive thinking. Courses and extracurricular activities are designed to foster lifelong appreciation through active participation in a variety of performing arts activities. It is through personal discovery and experimentation, coupled with consistent involvement in the arts, that skills are developed, appreciations are formed, and creativity is encouraged. Musical, dance, and dramatic experiences expand students’ horizons, foster creative and inventive thinking, and offer unique opportunities for self-revelation and reflection.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical direction (lighting, sound, costuming, and set) for all performing arts department events (music, dance, and theatre);
  • Interfacing with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and the Hun School community to coordinate all events held in the Breen Performing Arts Center;
  • Management and coordination of the theater schedule;
  • Overseeing the purchase, storage, maintenance and distribution of technical theater and performance-related material;
  • Flexibility with work schedule as day, evening and weekend hours will be periodically required;
  • Teaching Upper School (grades 9-PG) courses in technical theater;
  • Team teach in our annual productions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical theater management;
  • Experience in teaching technical theater courses;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment;
  • BA or BS in Theater or related field required;
  • MA or MS in Theater or related field preferred.
