Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of PE Teacher and Head Boys’ Varsity Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 academic year. This educator creates an environment that promotes physical literacy, well-being, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This educator fosters skill development, healthy habits, and character formation while contributing to a vibrant and inclusive athletics culture at Poly Prep.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Instruction and curricular responsibilities:
- Teach physical fitness, individual, dual, and team sports using the Poly Prep curriculum and developmentally appropriate learning activities.
- Analyze, demonstrate, and explain fundamental skills, strategies, and movement concepts across a variety of sports and physical activities.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with divisional philosophy and Poly Prep standards.
- Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners through individualized and small-group support.
- Revise and enhance curriculum as needed to reflect best practices in physical education.
- Maintain accurate grades and records; communicate progress to students, grade level teachers and families in a timely and constructive manner.
Coaching Responsibilities:
- Support student athletes to maintain strong academic progress in all coursework.
- Ensure that all athletes complete necessary requirements for participation in sports. All requirements must be completed prior to the start of practice.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the community regarding the objectives of the boys’ basketball program.
- Coach and lead the boys’ varsity basketball team with a focus on sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development.
