Poly Prep seeks applicants for the part-time position of Speech & Debate Faculty for the 2026 - 2027 school year. We seek a dynamic, organized, and inspiring educator to lead and grow our Middle School Debate Program. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate speech and debate professional who thrives on mentoring students, building programs, and fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity and excellence.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, a deep commitment to speech and debate education, and the ability to guide students at all levels—from beginners discovering their voice to advanced competitors refining high-level strategy. This role includes coaching in Cross-Examination (Policy) Debate and supporting Platform/Public Address speech events, as well as representing the program at competitions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design, implement, and lead engaging middle school debate programming.
  • Serve as the primary on-campus point person for middle school debate students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Debate, the Director of Speech, and consultant coaches, hired judges, and other stakeholders to make programmatic decisions, design curriculum, and perform other relevant program tasks.
  • Manage and lead in-person after-school practices with lectures, drills, and/or practice rounds in preparation for tournament competition.
  • Assist in program planning, budgeting, and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Speech, Debate, Education, or related field.
  • Proven experience in teaching and coaching speech and debate, preferably at the middle school level.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion in education.
