Boston University Academy is seeking a Learning Specialist serving students in grades 9-12. The position begins in August 2026 and is a 80% time, 10-month role.
The Learning Specialist will work as part of a four-person Student Support Team, with primary responsibilities including:
- Meeting one-on-one to support students with executive functioning and a variety of learning styles;
- Reviewing and processing psycho-educational testing and creating student learning profiles;
- Making recommendations to families about additional support (e.g. testing, tutoring, or outside professional support);
- Maintaining the list of students with school-approved accommodations and sharing with faculty on a need-to-know basis;
- Partnering with BU’s Disability & Access Services office on accommodations for BUA students in BU classes;
- Submitting and supporting applications to the College Board and other testing organizations for testing accommodations;
- Working closely with teachers to determine student needs and offer advice about ways teachers can best support the students;
- Leading professional development for faculty around learning disabilities and learning strategies.
The Learning Specialist reports to the Associate Head of School.
A master's degree in special education, educational psychology, or a related field and at least three years of experience in a similar role are preferred.
