Germantown Friends School is looking for Early Childhood teachers to work as assistants, leads, and specialists at our Main (Germantown) and Center City (Curtis Center) campuses.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitates developmentally appropriate activities that intentionally stimulate language, promote social-emotional skills, encourage fine/gross motor development, and build community.
- Facilitates a curriculum that includes art, science, yoga/mindfulness, and cooking.
- Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to varying needs, interests, and abilities.
- Fosters exploratory learning through play as an extension of the learning throughout the day.
- Creates schedules and routines to ensure children experience stimulation, exploratory playtime, physical activity, and downtime.
- Brings Quaker values into all aspects of teaching, learning, and connecting.
Interactions with Students
- Encourages students to grow in independence by gently challenging their capabilities while nurturing their self-esteem.
- Creates a sense of community with all the children in the EC.
- Is flexible in meeting group and individual needs of the children in the EC.
Interaction with Co-Workers
- Works as a member of a team of teachers that shares planning for curriculum and activities.
- Effectively and positively communicates with co-workers.
- Participates in professional development to further enrich and challenge teaching methods.
- Promotes healthy working relationships within the classroom.
