DescriptionCollege Counselor oversees all services and programs related to career and college decision-making and engages students and their families in the process of determining appropriate post-secondary education.
The responsibilities of College Counselor include, but are not limited to:
- Developing programming for students at each grade level and working closely with juniors and seniors as they complete the college process and standardized test preparation.
- Working closely with students' advisors, coaches and parents as warranted.
- Managing standardized test registration and administration, including testing accommodations.
- Managing the office budget and data entry/record keeping through Scoir.
- Writing recommendations for students; working in conjunction with the school's Registrar, faculty, and other staff to send transcripts, recommendations, and other materials for students' college applications.
- Scheduling appointments with college admission representatives.
- Leading events for parents during Family Weekends.
- Serving on the academic Program Team; teaching 1-2 classes or serving as an Academic Coach in the Learning Skills Program, depending on qualifications.
- Supervising other staff in the College Counseling office.
- Serving as House Parent in exchange for provided on-campus housing.
Required qualifications
- Two years of college counseling or admissions experience.
- Experience with NCAA rules and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Exceptional managerial, organizational, and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Willingness to be involved in the life of the school community.
- Proven ability to collaborate, effectively communicate, and work independently.
