St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School is a PK3–Grade 5 independent school rooted in the belief that young children thrive when they feel safe, known, and valued. Guided by our Episcopal identity, we nurture the whole child, socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually within a joyful and inclusive community.
Our preschool program centers on strong relationships, purposeful play, and inquiry. Teachers design learning experiences that grow from children’s interests and honor play as the primary context for thinking, exploration, and meaning-making. Through observation, reflection, and responsive teaching, they cultivate the foundational skills and dispositions that sustain learning from preschool through the elementary years.
We seek a reflective and collaborative early childhood educator who leads the design of developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences grounded in inquiry and responsive teaching. This educator contributes meaningfully to a unified, evolving preschool program and partners with colleagues to ensure coherence in language, routines, and instructional practices. Our program draws inspiration from Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and play-based traditions while remaining grounded in our shared philosophy and mission.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and facilitating play-based, inquiry-driven learning experiences, creating nurturing environments, observing and documenting student learning, collaborating with colleagues, and partnering with families.
