Westtown School seeks an experienced and innovative Director of College Counseling to start July 1, 2026.
The Director of College Counseling provides strategic leadership for Westtown’s Upper School college counseling program, guiding its vision, philosophy, and execution in support of the School’s mission to develop students to be stewards and leaders of a better world.
The Director oversees a comprehensive, student-centered program serving approximately 100 graduating students annually and leads a collaborative team of college counseling professionals.
This role requires deep expertise in selective college admissions, exceptional leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to ethical, inclusive, and individualized counseling practices.
The Director serves as the School’s expert on college admission matters and represents Westtown to colleges, universities, professional organizations, and external partners.
This is a 12-month, full-time position with the potential for on-campus housing.
Westtown School is an independent Quaker, Pre-K–12 day and boarding school located on a 600-acre campus in West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles west of Philadelphia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Strategy
- Provides vision and strategic leadership for the Upper School College Counseling program, ensuring alignment with Westtown’s mission, values, and academic philosophy;
- Remains current on college admission practices and trends, including but not limited to the nuances of the financial aid process, athletic recruiting, and standardized testing;
- Participates in professional conferences and visits college campuses as necessary;
- In collaboration with the Associate Director of College Counseling, develops and implements a comprehensive college counseling program that meets the needs of Westtown students;
- Develops and maintains relationships with college admissions officers, counselors, and other external partners to ensure Westtown students are well-represented and supported throughout the college application process;
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure that students are well-prepared for the college application process and that the college counseling program is aligned with the School’s academic and extracurricular programs;
- Provides individualized counseling and support to students and families throughout the college application process;
- Develops and implements a comprehensive college counseling program that includes but is not limited to:
- College research and exploration;
- Standardized testing preparation;
- College essay and application support;
- Financial aid and scholarship support;
- College interview preparation;
- College decision-making and post-graduation planning.
