Charlotte Latin School is looking for multiple dynamic Lead Teachers to join our Extended Day program starting August 2026. As an Extended Day Lead Teacher, you’ll be the creative force behind our afternoon adventures, designing lesson plans that are as engaging as they are educational. You will transform our space into a structured, child-centered sanctuary where play is the priority and every student feels like an explorer.

By blending compassionate leadership with endless enthusiasm, you’ll actively engage with every child while keeping the big picture organized and running smoothly. Your sharp eyes and quick problem-solving skills will ensure that our program remains a safe, high-quality environment where play always has a purpose and discovery never stops.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Interact with children to support learning through play and to help children develop cognitively, emotionally, socially, and physically.

  • Develop monthly lesson plans.
  • Provide the Director with a monthly supplies list that meets set budget limits.
  • Update the Extended Day newsletter with classroom information and pictures.
  • Responsible for the setup of activities and materials before each day's program. (classroom/playground)
  • Daily classroom cleanup and maintenance after each age group and at the end of each school day. (includes work-room)
  • Lead small group activities that are age-appropriate in an atmosphere where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences, enhancing the social, physical, and academic advancement of children in his/her care.
  • Provide close supervision to ensure children's safety. (playground, classroom, field trips, bathroom, and hallway)
  • Responsible for daily appropriate and professional communication with parents and fellow staff (In person, via email, via phone)
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Ability to design and implement engaging lesson plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
