Miller School of Albemarle seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable English teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-27 school year. Interested candidates should be willing to teach all levels of English, including electives such as creative writing. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with high school students and teaching experience. A candidate should demonstrate a desire to work as a team player and take an active role in the vibrant Miller School community. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in English; postgraduate degree preferred but not required. Experience teaching English to high school students is required. Experience teaching 10th grade English is preferred but not required. Experience teaching the basics of writing and grammar is also required. A passion for working with young people, coupled with a commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners, is essential. Relevant athletic or cocurricular experience that will contribute meaningfully to MSA’s after-school programming is also desired. Strong collaboration and communication skills are necessary.
Outside the classroom, the position includes two seasons of coaching a sport and/or leading a co-curricular activity, acting as an advisor to a group of 7-9 students, and serving on a supervisory duty team. The starting date for this position is August 2026. This is a full-time position, with healthcare and retirement plan benefits.
