Description

We are seeking an experienced Database Specialist to join a Managed Services team supporting telecommunications platforms and applications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, performance optimization, security, and availability of enterprise database environments while ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and operational standards.

This role is part of a long-term Managed Services engagement and will play a key role in maintaining high availability, performance, and reliability across telecom business support systems (BSS), operational support systems (OSS), customer management platforms, billing systems, and network applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support enterprise database environments across production, development, test, staging, and disaster recovery environments.
  • Ensure database availability, integrity, security, and optimal performance for mission-critical telecommunications applications.
  • Perform proactive monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, health checks, and optimization activities.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, migrate, and maintain database platforms in accordance with operational standards.
  • Support Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management processes in accordance with ITIL best practices.
  • Investigate and resolve database-related incidents within agreed SLA and KPI targets.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve service stability.
  • Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Support high-availability architectures and business continuity requirements for telecom services.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, network, storage, backup, and security teams to ensure end-to-end service performance.

Requirements

  • Experience in database administration and management.
  • Knowledge of database platforms (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL).
  • Understanding of database performance optimization and tuning.
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices for Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
