The Lower/Middle School Music Teacher and Band Director is responsible for overseeing and developing music and performing arts program in the Lower and Middle School divisions.
The position involves working with students and parents from Montessori-age (2.5 years) through Eighth Grade.
The ideal candidate will embrace diverse learning approaches, foster a student-centered classroom environment, and work collaboratively with colleagues in other curricular areas.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Teach general music curriculum for each grade from Montessori through Eighth Grade.
Build and lead the Lower and Middle School band programs.
Direct and oversee the Third Grade play, Early Childhood Christmas Concert, and other grade-level performances.
Coordinate and direct Grandparents Day performances.
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated by the teacher schedule.
Inspire students through enthusiasm for course content and student growth.
Prepare for assigned classes by creating robust lesson plans that align with the course curriculum.
Engage families in understanding and enjoying the learning of the classroom through consistent two-way communication.

Requirements
Teaching certification in Music Education (K-8 or equivalent).
Experience in teaching music to students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Ability to build and lead a band program.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
