Description

Waynflete seeks a passionate and developmentally-informed educator to serve as a half-time Middle School Dean of Students and half-time faculty member (content area flexible) starting in late August.

The Dean of Students is a vital position at the school, focused on working collaboratively and in partnership with the Middle School Director to design, refine, and nurture a student experience that meets the unique needs and capacities of our students in grades six through eight.

The Dean of Students role is dynamic and offers opportunities to support students in developing their voices and making a positive impact on the life of the Middle School.

This position will be paired with a half-time faculty position to ensure full time employment. Current faculty members in any department are invited to apply. External candidates with interest and experience teaching Middle School Mathematics, Science, English, Computer Science, or Health & Wellness Seminar classes are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping to plan and convene community events, including weekly assemblies;
  • Collaborating with teaching colleagues as they support student well-being;
  • Meeting with parents;
  • Leading the design and implementation of advising curricula;
  • Participating in the division’s student support team;
  • Developing professional development for the MS team;
  • Working with students to address behavioral concerns.

Qualifications include:

  • Degree in Health Education, School Counseling, or a related field;
  • Proven track record in implementing and managing student support programs;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Experience with restorative practices and crisis management;
  • Training in Responsive Classroom required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Requirements
