Lower School Lead Teacher (2nd, 3rd, or 4th Grade)
Westside School is seeking a collaborative and compassionate educator to join our Lower School team as a Lower School Lead Teacher for the 26-27 school year.
The ideal candidate can co-develop and implement meaningful, age-appropriate curriculum, foster a joyful and inclusive classroom community, and support the school’s ongoing work around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Located in the Arbor Heights neighborhood of West Seattle, Westside School serves approximately 375 students in preschool through eighth grade. 36.4% of our student body are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Westside’s Lower School serves around 200 students in Kindergarten through Grade 4 and is organized into grade-level teams of two lead teachers and instructional assistants, who work together to support student learning and growth.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for their classroom in all areas, including developing and implementing curriculum across core subjects. They are committed to building a respectful and caring community of learners, where students feel seen, heard, and valued. The Lead Teacher partners with families, collaborates with fellow classroom teachers, Specialist teachers, and the Lower School Learning Support Team, and plays an essential role in creating a cohesive, student-centered experience. The Lead Teacher participates fully in the life of the school, attending in-service days, meetings, and school celebrations, and upholds the mission, vision, and values of Westside School.
