The Taft School seeks a head coach for the varsity boys’ hockey team for a fall 2026 start date. This role can be combined with any of the full-time teaching vacancies for the 2026-2027 academic year. This is an excellent opportunity to work with students from around the world, gain valuable experience at a leading independent school, as well as to live and work in a supportive professional environment.
Hockey-related duties include:
Coaching games and practices;
Designing practice plans;
Coordinating responsibilities with assistant coach(es);
Coordinating with rink staff;
Supporting college placement for student-athletes;
Collaborating with the Taft admissions office and college counseling office;
Communicating with various stakeholders, including families.
Specific qualifications include:
Previous high-level coaching experience;
Strong interpersonal, communication, and professional skills;
A desire to work with engaged and motivated student-athletes.
A bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience;
The ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, employees, and other campus stakeholders to support and expand programmatic and institutional goals; and an interest in joining a residential community that serves a globally-inclusive student body.
