Position Summary and Overview

The Lower School Math Specialist reports to the Lower School Division Director and works collaboratively with the lower school team, including teachers, related service providers, and the K-12 Math Department Coordinator. The Math Specialist plans and implements research-based instructional approaches and administers assessments while supporting math teachers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instructional Planning and Teaching
    • Support students by providing expert service through individual, small group, and whole class instruction, both pull-out and push-in settings, using a systematic, multisensory approach to instruction.
    • Modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students with language-based learning disabilities.
    • Utilize educational technology to enhance instruction, engagement, and accessibility.
    • Design and administer assessments to measure student progress and understanding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with students with language-based learning disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of research-based instructional approaches and assessment methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, and other school staff.
