We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Upper School Spanish Teacher for the 2026–27 school year. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Assistant Head of School and responsible for developing curriculum, designing lessons, and engaging students in high-quality language learning. Candidates should be experienced in differentiated instruction so that each student has the opportunity to do work that is appropriately challenging. The ideal candidate has experience teaching high school–aged students and demonstrates a strong commitment to culturally responsive, acquisition-driven, and student-centered instruction.

Upper School Spanish courses emphasize communication, cultural competence, and global perspectives. Our Spanish program is designed around comprehensible input principles, prioritizing proficiency, and communication. We use the SOMOS curriculum, along with a variety of supplemental lessons and materials, to support students in acquiring authentic listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills. The successful candidate will be comfortable implementing an acquisition-driven curriculum that supports a range of proficiency levels and encourages risk-taking, collaboration, and curiosity.

Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Create units and lesson plans that prioritize student engagement and individual needs using student-centered, inquiry-based, and communicative approaches.
  • Design and deliver Spanish instruction that emphasizes proficiency-based learning and cultural competence.
  • Employ a variety of teaching methods and differentiated instruction to engage a range of learners.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching high school–aged students.

  • Experience with differentiated instruction.
  • Ability to implement an acquisition-driven curriculum that supports a range of proficiency levels.
  • Comfort with technology and educational software.
