Part-Time School Chaplain

St. James’ Episcopal School is looking for a Part-Time School Chaplain beginning in August 2026. This is a 10-month, non-exempt position requiring weekday availability. The successful candidate will take a student-centered approach to all school work and will use the School’s mission to support the academic, extracurricular, social, and emotional success of students.

The School Chaplain:

• teaches Religion class to students in four grades ranging from K-6, including:
• sharing the teaching responsibilities with the Head of School and the Rector of St. James’-in-the-City.
• teaching the Godly Play curriculum in grades K-4.
• coordinates the Chapel and Assembly schedule with the Senior Administration team.
• plans the weekly Chapel, including creating and printing the bulletin, with the help of the Assistant Head of School for Systems & Matriculation.
• preaches regularly at Chapel, creating the preaching rotation to include other speakers.
• works with the Senior Administration Team to organize the Elementary School Christmas Pageant and Preschool holiday celebration.
• performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School or her designee.
• reports to the Head of School.

• Master’s degree in Divinity or related field.
