Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a part-time teacher for Middle School Math, which sections could include Pre-Algebra or Algebra I. An ideal candidate will work to create a classroom environment that challenges and supports each student in his or her pursuit of excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach multiple sections of Pre-Algebra and/or Algebra I.
Effectively integrate educational technology (including iPads) appropriately into the curriculum including managing a LMS.
Plan course materials and methods of instruction.
Create and design lesson plans, instruction, and assessments.
Work closely and effectively with members of the math department to ensure that curriculum flows smoothly.
Communicate with parents proactively, positively and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students.
Engage in continued professional development.
Integrate the language of leadership and character development into the classroom.
Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics or other relevant subject, advanced degree preferred.
Teaching experience in math preferred.
Creative, enthusiastic and growth-mindset approach to learning.
Experience in the use of educational technology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Genuine concern for students and their learning success.
Collaborative approach to working with other faculty members.
