Part-Time Middle School Math Teacher

Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a part-time teacher for Middle School Math, which sections could include Pre-Algebra or Algebra I. An ideal candidate will work to create a classroom environment that challenges and supports each student in his or her pursuit of excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach multiple sections of Pre-Algebra and/or Algebra I.
• Effectively integrate educational technology (including iPads) appropriately into the curriculum including managing a LMS.
• Plan course materials and methods of instruction.
• Create and design lesson plans, instruction, and assessments.
• Work closely and effectively with members of the math department to ensure that curriculum flows smoothly.
• Communicate with parents proactively, positively and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students.
• Engage in continued professional development.
• Integrate the language of leadership and character development into the classroom.
• Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics or other relevant subject, advanced degree preferred.
• Teaching experience in math preferred.
• Creative, enthusiastic and growth-mindset approach to learning.
• Experience in the use of educational technology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Genuine concern for students and their learning success.
• Collaborative approach to working with other faculty members.
